HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries were reviewed. Following the meeting, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan chaired the official opening session of the first strategic dialogue between the governments of the State of Qatar and Japan, which was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

H.E. Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafi Al-Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan received Mr. Katsuno Satoru, Chairman of the Japan-Qatar Friendship Association (JQFA). The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them. It was attended by Mr. Abdullah bin Jassim Al Zeyara, Minister Plenipotentiary and Mr. Nasser bin Yousef Al Kaabi, Third Secretary at the embassy.

H.E. Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al-Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan received H.E. Mr. Nayef bin Marzouq Al Fahadi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Japan. The meeting discussed topics of mutual interest.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan Hassan bin Mohammed Rafi Al Emadi paid a visit to the Japanese University of Waseda, in order to follow-up on the progress of the 'Chair of the State of Qatar for Islamic Area Studies' project, which comes in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as an initiative to enhance cooperation between the institutes and institutions of education and scientific research in the State of Qatar and Japan.

‏HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan, Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al-Emadi received the Ambassador of Japan to the State of Qatar HE Mr. Kazuo Sunaga. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Japan x Qatar diplomatic relations. The two officials exchanged views on Tokyo 2020 Olympics as well as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️.

The State of Qatar valued the inauguration of the Qatar Chair for Islamic Area Studies at Waseda University in Japan, which comes in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to enhance cooperation and scientific, academic, and research exchange with Japan. This came during the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al Emadi in the inauguration ceremony of the chair, which was held via videoconferencing.

H.E. Mr. Nayef bin Marzouq Al Fahadi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Japan received H.E. Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafi Al-Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan, at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tokyo. The meeting discussed topics of mutual interest.
