HE Mr Natsuo Yamaguchi, member of the House of Councilors and leader of Komeito party, the coalition partner of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, received at his office today, HE Mr Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan. The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them, among other topics of mutual interest on both regional and international levels.

HE Mr Isao Iijima, Special Advisor to Japan’s Prime Minister, received on Tuesday at his office, HE Mr Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan. The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them, among other topics of mutual interest.

H.E. Mr. Hassan bin Mohamed Rafei Al Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Tokyo, and members of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Japan paid a courtesy call on Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa on Monday. H.E. Hayashi stated that Japan attaches great importance to its long-standing friendly relations with Arab countries and expressed his hope to continue to strengthen cooperation with the Arab world, including through bilateral exchanges. The Council of Arab Ambassadors in Japan expressed its appreciation for Japan’s role and assistance in the Arab world, and stated that the Council would like to continue developing Japan-Arab relations.

HE Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan, hosted a dinner in honor of HE Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, during her visit to Japan to participate in Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum. Her Excellency met with all the Qatari students in Japanese universities, checking on their academic conditions and listening to their opinions and suggestions, as she encouraged them to make the best use of their scholarships and abroad experience to better serve their country.

HIM Emperor Naruhito of Japan received a courtesy call at the Imperial Palace from HH the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. At the outset of the meeting, HH the Emir expressed to HIM the Emperor his sincere condolences on the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. During the meeting, His Highness and His Imperial Majesty reviewed the close relations between the two friendly countries and touched upon many topics of mutual interest.

HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, attended the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo which was held by the Japanese government at Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. His Highness offered his condolences to Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Fumio Kishida, senior officials and family members of the former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo. And in a message of condolences HH sent just after Abe's death, the HH the Emir said Abe was a true friend of Qatar and supported the strong relationship between Qatar and Japan.

The Embassy participated in the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour sponsored by Coca-Cola, to all 32 countries that qualified for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, including Japan. The event was attended by President of the Japan Football Association Mr. Kohzo Tashima, President of Coca-Cola Japan Mr. Jorge Garduno, former Brazilian football star Rivaldo, and former Japanese football star Yoshito Okubo.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman H.E. Mr. Youssef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, who is currently visiting Tokyo to be honored by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito with the 'Order of the Rising Sun' which is the highest Japanese decoration offered to foreigners, and Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman H.E. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Busaidi, received at the Embassy of Oman in Tokyo yesterday, H.E. Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan and Their Excellencies the Arab Ambassadors in Tokyo.
