Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Japan, the economic giant and internationally influential power, with which we have historical friendship and a strategic partnership that has been established thanks to the desire and strong political will and the guidance of the top leadership of the two friendly countries.
Our bilateral relations with Japan, which extend back more than half a century, constitute a model of cooperation, friendship and common interests. The State of Qatar, at all levels, the leadership, government and people, attaches a special importance to the existing relations of cooperation, friendship and partnership with Japan. In 2023, the two countries have agreed to promote the relations from the stage of cooperation to a comprehensive strategic partnership, which establishes closer cooperation in all economic, cultural, technical, scientific, defense, security, and technological fields.
The economic cooperation forms the backbone of our bilateral relations, as Japan is considered one of the largest trading partners of the State of Qatar, and Japanese energy companies were our first partners in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and many major Japanese companies contributed to vital projects in the State of Qatar, such as Energy expansion and development projects and the infrastructure projects. The economic cooperation moved to an advanced level represented by the joint investment projects in third countries.

Work Experience
His Excellency Jaber Al Marri joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996 where he worked in the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department for 3 years. He then worked in the Information and Research Department and headed the Technology Department where he supervised a group of development projects, including developing programs for the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department.
HE Al Marri progressed through his diplomatic career path and was appointed as a Counselor at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Kingdom of Spain in 2015, after which he was promoted to Minister Plenipotentiary in 2017. Subsequently, he was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire in 2018 and was finally appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Japan in 2023.
