Rules of concern to citizens


  • Japan has decided on October 3, 2016 to grant the holders of the Qatari ordinary passport the multiple entry visas to Japan (valid for three years), and He/She can stay in Japan for 90 days each time entering Japan.

  • Japanese residency laws require obtaining an entry visa to Japan in advance, with confirmation of schedule and place of residence in some cases. Note that the failure to complete these procedures may result in returning passenger t to his/her country.

  • Japanese customs laws prohibit the importof some materials and food from abroad.

  • Japan has very strict rules about carrying prescriptions and medicines into the country. And it allows up to one month supply of medication prescribed without obtaining prior permission. If the medication contains a narcotic such as codeine or morphine, then you will need to get a different certificate, regardless of the amount taken in Japan.

  • The money: there are no limits to the extent of the amountof money allowable toenter or be taken out of Japan. However, in the case you take (any currency, or check, or securitiesor any other types of money) worth more than two million Japanese currency into or out of Japan, you have to complete a declaration form at the Customs.
  • (90 days) is the validity duration of visas and the registration ofnew birthsmust take place before the passage of 60 days at the Passport and Immigration Department. The Japanese authorities require all residing foreigners to register in the municipal registration office and toreportwhen changing home address.

  • Many stores in Japan exempt visitors from consumption tax (Duty Free). You can take advantage of this service by producing your passport, provided that the residence in Japan must not exceed three months.

  • You are not allowed to drive cars in Japan with international driver's license issued by the State of Qatar. You should obtain a Japanese driver's license after presenting the Qatari driving license and sitting for exam.

  • Public transport (trains and buses) are available until midnight, after thatonly the taxi costly services are available.

  • Japanese laws oblige everyone to respect public order and regulations (for example, smoking is not allowed in public vehicles and streets, except in designated areas, and waste are disposed of in accordance with a particular system and a specific timetable for each zone. The use of mobile phones in public vehicles is prohibited).
