H.E. Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al-Emadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan, and members of the embassy, Mr. Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Zeyara, Minister Plenipotentiary and Mr. Rashed bin Mubarak Al-Khater, Second Secretary at the Embassy, visited three facilities that were implemented by the Qatar Friendship Fund in Japan to help with the reconstruction of areas that witnessed widespread destruction by the earthquake and tsunami of March 2011. His Excellency and the embassy members concluded their tour with a visit to the "Qatar Science Campus" at the prestigious Tohoku University, which is ranked among the top ten universities in Japan. The cost of this project is $ 2.8 million.

The second stop of the tour was the "Elem Project" in the city of Sendai. His Excellency and the members of the embassy assessed the progress of this project, which is based on an educational program aimed at providing students with practical experience to help develop plans for their future lives. The project cost 6.9 million dollars.

The Acting Chargé d'Affaires in the Embassy Mr. Rashed Bin Mubarak Al-Khater, participated in the reception hosted by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Emperor of Japan, and Empress Masako, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on January 1, 2020, to receive New Year's greetings from the Ambassadors and heads of accredited Diplomatic Corps in Japan, on the occasion of the New Year.
