On the occasion of the National Day of the State Qatar, the Embassy hosted a reception party on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at the Imperial Hotel to celebrate this important event. It was attended by H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and his wife, and a number of senior Japanese politicians and officials, including Mr. Sunora Kintaro, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Tadahiko Ito, Secretary general of the Japanese Parliamentary Association for Friendship with the state of Qatar, Mr. Toshio Mita, Honorary Adviser to the President of Chubu Electric Power Company, President of the Japan-Qatar Friendship Association. The party also attended by a large number of parliamentarians, leaders of political parties, directors of departments, members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps in Tokyo, and many senior businesspeople and public figures.
H.E.Mr. Hassan bin Mohammed Rafi Al Emadi and the members of the diplomatic mission were in the forefront of the hosts. At the beginning of the ceremony, H.E. the ambassador delivered a speech welcoming the guests and expressing pride in the excellent relations between Qatar and Japan. He said it is a relationship based on the foundations of strong friendship, cooperation, and mutual interests. It is reinforced by respect and mutual trust between the leadership of both countries.
Following the statement by the Ambassador, the Foreign Minister of Japan, Kono, made a statement. He said that Japan and the State of Qatar had maintained a mutually beneficial relationship for a long time, the State of Qatar for Japan is the most reliable supplier of LNG, and it is vital to be fully associated with Japan's energy security. He said he would do everything he could to promote bilateral relations based on the "overall partnership."
