The State of Qatar valued the inauguration of the Qatar Chair for Islamic Area Studies at Waseda University in Japan, which comes in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to enhance cooperation and scientific, academic, and research exchange with Japan.
This came during the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan Hassan bin Mohammed Rafei Al Emadi in the inauguration ceremony of the chair, which was held via videoconferencing.
In a speech, HE the Ambassador said that the chair will remain a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two friendly countries, noting that the timing of the inauguration of the Chair is of special importance, as it coincides with the ongoing efforts in the two countries to strengthen and diversify relations coinciding with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them in 2022.
He reiterated Qatar's keenness to strengthen and expand scientific and academic cooperation with its Japanese partners, as part of efforts to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership in the implementation of the common vision and solid political will of the leadership in the two friendly countries.
HE Al Emadi thanked and appreciated all those who contributed to the launch of this promising scientific project, and thanked the president and members of Waseda University for their cooperation and estimated efforts over the past years.
The agreement to establish the Qatar Chair for Islamic Area Studies between Qatar University and the Waseda University of Japan was signed during the visit of HH the Amir to Japan in January 2019.
Waseda University is one of the most important and most prestigious Japanese universities, and it has produced leaders, politicians, economists, and scholars in various fields.
